Located in the Fourth Ward of Charlotte’s ‘Uptown’ city center, Discovery Place Science will anchor the future mixed-use development master plan (The North Tryon Vision Plan) of the surrounding district and provide a link between the nearby neighborhoods and the City Center. One of the top hands-on science museums in the nation, Discovery Place Science provides ever-changing, entertaining facilities that engage people in the. The Master Plan included an existing facility assessment for the three buildings on the campus. Jenkins Peer Architects as architect-of-record and Diller Scofidio + Renfro as design architect were selected to analyze the campus and identify the needs of Discovery Place Science in its continuing mission to provide educational, inspiring and immersive experiences involving science and technology to all visitors.
